Knight Opponents
Instantly generate a roster of worthy NPC opponents for the Joust (or Mêlée) from the rollable tables found in Knights of the Wood: The Duke’s Tourney
User Guide
Generates random knight opponents for medieval tournaments in the Dolmenwood RPG setting. Creates appropriate difficulty opponents for each round of a tournament, tracks eliminated knights, and handles matches involving player character (PC) knights.
Starting a Tournament
- Select competition round (Qualifying, Main Joust 1-3, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Finals). You do not have to start with the Qualifying round and play throiugh the entire tournament. You can jump straight to the part of the tournamanet you’re most interested in.
- Choose number of opponents to generate (1-4 for all rounds save Semifinals and Finals, for which you can generate 1 or 2)
- Check “Elf Knights Present?” if an elf knight makes an appearance as the result of a Dramtic Happening or Referree fiat
- Click “Generate Opponents”
During Play
- Click ✓ (checkmark) when a knight wins their bout
- Click ✗ (X) when a knight is eliminated
When PC Knights Eliminate NPCs
- Click ✗ on the eliminated NPC
- Modal appears asking “Which PC knight defeated this opponent?”
- Enter PC knight’s name and click “Save” (Victorious PC knight becomes opponent in future rounds)
- OR click “Skip” (knight won’t reappear, useful for when there’s only 1 PC knight remaining)
New Tournament: Click “New Tournament” to reset everything and start fresh.
PC Opponent Cards: When a PC knight eliminated an NPC in an earlier round, that PC appears as an opponent (blue card) showing which NPC they defeated.
Features
- No duplicate knights in same round
- Appropriate difficulty scaling per tournament round
- One elf knight maximum per tournament
- Tracks PC vs NPC eliminations
- Session-based tournament memory
- Collapsible round history
Tournament Structure
- Qualifying Round: Lower-tier knights
- Main Joust Rounds 1-3: Progressive difficulty increase
- Quarterfinals: Top 8 finalists
- Semifinals: Top 4 finalists
- Finals: Top 2 champions
Notes
- All NPC Knights are derived from Knights of the Wood: The Duke’s Tourney.
- Since Dolmenwood may be found in any setting, details like Kindred and House of foreign knights are left to the Referee to decide.
- The generator keeps track of PC knights who advance, so that they can show up in later rounds. However, it does not track NPC knights who advance. The Referee may have to override some generated knights, especially in the Semifinals and Finals rounds, to maintain continuity.
